About the Fellowship
The Malott Fellowship is a prestigious principal coaching fellowship developed in partnership with the Chicago Public Education Fund and the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Center for Urban Education Leadership (CUEL). Through the fellowship, experienced leadership coaches work one-on-one with sitting Chicago Public Schools principals to develop and implement Leadership Development Plans that drive real, measurable improvement in their schools.
Dr. Peggie Burnett-Wise and the Wise Leadership Consulting coaching team serve as Malott Fellowship coaches, bringing deep expertise in adaptive leadership, culturally responsive practice, instructional coherence, and community engagement to their work with CPS principals.
Our Coaching Approach
Each principal in the Malott Fellowship develops a Leadership Development Plan (LDP) focused on the specific adaptive challenges they face in their building. Our coaching goes beyond technical problem-solving to help principals build the relational trust, instructional vision, and distributed leadership capacity needed for sustained school transformation.
Coaching focus areas include instructional leadership and coherence, building and sustaining community partnerships, addressing chronic absenteeism through relationship-centered approaches, developing distributive leadership structures, strengthening data-driven instructional decision-making, and building collective efficacy among school staff.
